National Orchestra Steps Up with Outreach Programme
Our elderly are in for a lovely surprise as the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) announces a series of outreach concerts that take place across various homes and retirement villages.
The concerts will be held every week on Friday mornings. The aim? To bring in a much-needed ray of sunshine and hope to all residents and care-workers, with some gorgeous classical music performed by Malta’s top musicians.
Ever since the pandemic hit, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra has upped its presence among audiences across Malta, adapting its programme to the new realities and bringing the beauty of classical music to previously untapped audiences.
All the concerts will, of course, abide by the COVID-19 regulations currently in place. But this, obviously, won’t stop the MPO’s mission of promoting classical music through this unique platform.
People, expect all the feels for all those who have been affected by the pandemic.
MPO Executive Chairman, Mr Sigmund Mifsud, noted that the orchestra was committed to contributing towards society’s holistic well-being through its endeavours.
The homes visited include Jasmine Nursing Home, Hilltop Gardens, Casa Antonia, Casa Leone, Holy Family Home, St Vincent de Paul Residence and Id-Dar tal-Kleru.
