Sick Fest – the top local musicians at 1 venue

It’s been a summer of non-stop, mostly awesome gigs and seems like it’s going to be an autumn of equally great music festivals. A couple of weeks ago we had the announcement of Nil By Mouth’s official line-up.

Now, we have a confirmation of the line-up for Sick Fest, which is set to bring together the top names in local music (and by ‘music’, I mean ‘real music’) at one venue – the Buskett Roadhouse – for a whole afternoon and evening of pure, unadulterated awesomeness.

Like all self-respecting festivals, the event will include a host of live bands, a DJ area, merchandise stands, an artisan market, food stalls and live painters.

Top-billing bands mainstage include:

Skimmed; Stolen Creep; The Man Upstairs; Errormantics; Dolls For Idols; Yews; Stalko; Three Stops To China; Clandestines

Click on the names for available interviews with the bands. In more gossip-talk, we look forward to the upcoming release of  new albums from Skimmed and Stalko, both scheduled for this autumn. YEWS has also just released a video to accompany Traveller, which you can view below.

Judging by reports, Errormantics played a really good gig at Coach & Horses last Saturday, though I had to miss it myself. However, here’s video evidence for those who would like to know more about their music:

One band that I have yet to see live is The Man Upstairs and I guess this will be the perfect occasion. I’ve no doubt that an outfit that quotes the likes of The Strokes, The Smiths, The Libertines and Joy Division amongst others on its Facebook page just has to be interesting.

The festival also includes a Modulation Area dedicated to all things electronic, or “madness for the electronically inclined”, to quote the organisers. The following artistes will be performing: Multifunktional; Acidulant; Bjan Jensen; Sonitus Eco; A-Call; Istishhad; Specs; Ipon; Stimulus Timbre; Freakazoid. In addition, the following DJ’s will be running their own  sets: Critical Mass; Laavemuax; Karl Bald; Davide Zane; Robert Pisani.

€15 tickets available from: Coach & Horses; Zion Bar (St Thomas Bay, Marsascala); EF School (St George’s Bay, St Julian’s); Why Not? (Paceville, St Julian’s); Riot Boutique (Baystreet & Plaza); Buskett Roadhouse (Buskett, Dingli). Tickets also available online from http://www.sickfestmalta.com/#!tickets/c24vq.
